Social Emotional Behavioral Support Program Liaison
Murdock Middle School
The social-emotional behavior program at Murdock Middle School is designed for students with needs in the areas of emotional and behavioral support, both through an individual education program, as well as students in general education in need of short-term support, development of identified skills, or for a specific transition period. Program services may range from pull-out services providing direct instruction in the core curriculum to a supported full-inclusion program, as well as various levels of skill-specific groups and the implementation of individual student plans and what that may entail. Program staff are involved with all teachers and paraprofessionals working with the students across settings to monitor progress and academic performance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write and implement Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs), data collection, conduct assessments/evaluations, facilitating team meetings for caseload, and exhibit strong behavior management skills
- Assist students with the development of social and emotional skills
- Work with the classroom teachers and all other educational assistants/staff/related service providers to implement accommodations and instructional modifications as needed
- Collaborate on learning materials and provide accommodations for accessing the general education curriculum; assist teachers with implementing strategies.
- Work in collaboration with school psychologist, school counselors, district BCBA, classroom teacher(s), administration, and all other related service providers to implement IEPs, facilitate the implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (as needed), oversee data collection, implement individual student success/program access plans, as well as positive behavior supports
- Attend and/or facilitate IEP meetings as needed to discuss student progress and present data on
academic social/emotional goals
- Attend and/or participate in progress meetings for general education students accessing the program
- Participate in district-wide Professional Development as assigned
- Manage student schedules and paraprofessional schedules, and provide daily check-ins and
skills training
Push into general education classes of identified program students
- Work cooperatively with staff to support Murdock Middle School's vision and mission
- Other duties as assigned by the building principal.
DEGREE PREFERRED:
- Master’s Degree preferred or bachelor’s degree paired with 3+ years of experience
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Experience in middle/high school education is preferred
- Safety Care Trained (or ability to participate in upcoming training)
- 2+ years of middle/high school special education and/or experience working with students identified with social and/or emotional disabilities and behavioral needs
- Knowledge of research-based practices for providing therapeutically based interventions for students who need support with emotional and behavioral regulation (ex: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
- Solid understanding of how to collect and analyze student data to direct instruction and for IEP and/or student service plan development
- Experience facilitating Special Education Team meetings and/or general progress meetings
- Experience writing IEPs and progress reports is preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education License: Moderate Disabilities
- OR Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education License: School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor
- OR Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education License: School Psychologist
